Ricci made a transition into more adult roles in The Ice Storm (1997) and then a cult role on The Opposite of Sex (1998) in which she was awarded an Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress. Ricci continued to be successful with well-received performance on Sleepy Hollow (1999) and Monster (2003).
